The hazel dormouse is mostly nocturnal, shy, and rarely seen. It lives in deciduous woodland, building nests from grass, hazel leaves, and honeysuckle bark. They rarely come down from the tree canopy during the spring and summer months, and they spend most of the rest of the year in hibernation. Vulnerable to extinction in the UK, the hazel dormouse is the only living species in the genus Muscardinus. They are a priority species in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan and protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
'Hazel Dormouse' wildlife art coaster
- Each circular coaster measures 10 x 10cm in diameter and 4mm thick. They are made of melamine which is both lightweight, wipe clean, and durable. The coasters are backed with natural cork to prevent slipping and to protect the tabletop below.
This coaster would a wonderful gift for a nature lover, and as a charming housewarming present. This coaster is also part of a 'Mammals' set of 6 and available here.
Each coaster will be wrapped in a glassine paper sleeve. All of my packaging materials are recycled, biodegradable, and plastic-free - even down to the tape!
